My first cocker spaniel was a wonderful blue roan bitch called “Sasha”. We bought her when she was four years old and although she had been shown by her previous owners at a few local shows, we had bought her purely as a pet. However, a few years later I ended up accompanying a friend to an exemption dog show where I won a first prize with Sasha – this was enough to have me hooked to the dog showing game. Shortly afterwards we purchased “Bitcon Bo-Peep” from Moray Armstrong who was to become my foundation bitch and from whom all the present day Cassom cocker spaniels are descended.

Bitcon Bo-Peep is the dam of Sh. Ch. Cassom April Sky, grand dam of Sh. Ch. Cassom Lois Lane and great grand dam of Sh. Ch. Cassom Athene.

Hungarian vizslas joined my kennel in 1992. After seeing the lovely Sh. Ch. Russetmantle Finch of Gunalt at Stephen and Patsy Hollings Gunalt kennels; I fell in love with the breed.

My first Hungarian vizslas was a daughter of Finch – namely Hammerton Hold Court at Cassom. She later became our first vizsla Show Champion. She has since been joined by Bitcon Fatal Attraction to Cassom, who is the dam of Cassom Romancer (3 R.C.C’s) who was top winning puppy dog in breed in 2005. She is also dam of our current youngsters, Cassom Barega and Cassom Kiah who have both made excellent starts to their show careers.
